No more dirty dancing

It's 11pm on 30th July and I've been to Nick and Dan's Request Night. Both are English from Liverpool and Newcastle and are really good. Except...having to sing "My Way" and "Wonderful Life" stretched their artistic skills. "Sweet Caroline " had us all joining in the responses, which was great, but when they played "Mama Mia" all hell broke loose. Dad Dancing hit the floor: never have so many inflated stomachs and flabby bums gyrated. Venerable grandfathers threw caution, and their hip supports to the wind as they boogied on down to Earth, Wind and Fire and Queen.

And the day started so well. We weren't set to go to the Ashmore Reef https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashmore_Reef_Marine_Park until mid-day. A leisurely breakfast, a chat with new friends and time to catchup on e-mails etc. The Reef is about 600 km from Australia and it's pristine. There are buoys which set out the path your Zodiac has to follow - deep channels so you don't damage the reef and its wildlife. We spent an hour having our bums buffeted by the waves. We saw no turtles, no flying fish, and no rays and a few birds. One got up close and personal and crapped on one of our bejewelled travellers.

This was all too much for me. When we got back, I went to my cabin and promptly feel asleep, to be rudely woken by Lesley. I said I was looking forward to going home. There is just so much luxury a Walthamstow lad can take.

Tomorrow it's another god forsaken place: Kuri Bay, Australia! If I have to get in a bloody Zodiac at 7:15 am to visit and I quote "This secluded bay is renowned for its rugged, untouched beauty, where ancient red cliffs meet the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean." I'll scream. On the positive side there's an astronomical event and a "Name that Tune" competition in the evening.
