I put it down to my Greek heritage and plenty of olive oil, green and fermented grape juice served in a large glass.

Dear TDG: Not sure about the intense exercise. I have an allotment on which I expend my energy (and money).

Good egg! Eggs are now a super food.Marginaliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01175372147298306908noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6723919029681539661.post-78807615230571051952010-07-26T11:01:04.662+01:002010-07-26T11:01:04.662+01:00I heard that the benefits of statins aren't a ...I heard that the benefits of statins aren't a certainty. Some think they are harmful.

There are lifestyle changes that would work better and have side-benefits. If you're up and about for at least an hour per day and do some form of intense exercise once per week you should be fine.

'Normal' cholesterol levels vary from person to person.

Also, despite what you may have been told, eating cholesterol (e.g. eggs) doesn't directly lead to higher blood cholesterol; the stuff is disassembled by the digestive system and reassembled as blood cholesterol only if your body thinks (rightly or wrongly) that you need it. So it's when the system that regulates the blood-level goes haywire that you're in trouble.

If your levels are dangerously high maybe I'd take the leap of faith and obey the doctor. But if it's just a precautionary measure and your levels are just a wee bit above normal, if I were you I would avoid medication and make sure my lifestyle's right.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6723919029681539661.post-78020467397839392822010-07-26T10:46:48.910+01:002010-07-26T10:46:48.910+01:00I have this plan to stay healthily ouot of their s...I have this plan to stay healthily ouot of their slippery grasp for as long as I can get away with it! I once made the mistake of having to have my BP (blood pressure) taken when I was 'suffering' a handover. It was really high apparently and they locked me in for about 3 months worth of tests, which all came back normal...and I decided to not go back just yet!The Sagittarianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05513045101496737031noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6723919029681539661.post-63153382049187743552010-07-25T18:10:33.766+01:002010-07-25T18:10:33.766+01:00Sounds like a bureaucratic nightmare...Sounds like a bureaucratic nightmare...Old Cheeserhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17871751335676050949noreply@blogger.com
